Magical Wee Books A White Rose Crafts DT Project

Good morning and happy October! I have some fun and magical wee books to share with you today, using some amazing products from White Rose Crafts.

I started off using some black cardstock from my stash and created my own wee little book using a chipboard base. I glued the chipboard to the cardstock on both sides and this formed the base of the books.

I used the American Crafts "Haunted Hollow" paper for the top of the books. This paper had different book covers on it, so it was perfect for this project.  I also used some Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to each of the books to make them look old and grungy.

I also used the Dress it up Halloween set, and used three of the little embellishments to decorate the covers of the tiny books.

I used old book pages inside the books to make them feel authentic and sewed in the signatures to each of the books. So, now they are real tiny books that can be open and read!

I added some of the ScrapBerry Witch Hat charms to the spines of each of the books so everyone knows just who they belong to!

I decided the books were not spooky enough so I added some "cobwebs" made with hot glue to each of the books, now they look old and like they have been sitting on someone's shelf for a very long time.

The finishing touch was some Imagine Crafts Sheer Shimmer Spray, this gave my books the magical sparkle they needed.

I hope you have enjoyed my wee magical books today, thanks for stopping by!

Halloween ATC's Fernli Designs DT Project

Hello Fernli Designs fans! I have some fun Halloween ATC's to share with you today.
I love Halloween, and doing ATC's are so much fun! Fernli has some great ATC products in their shop, so let's get started on how to make these!

I used the Fernli Designs ATC Frames Set for this project, and below you can see what the blank wood looks like before I decorated it. These are super sturdy and so fun to make.

For my first witchy gal, I painted her with gesso first, then added a layer of Prima clear crackle. I wanted all the ATC's to look worn and very distressed. Once the crackle was dry I added some silks acrylic glazes in some lovely fall colours to pick up on the grooves of the crackle.

I gave each of the ATC's a similar treatment, only varying the colours of paint slightly. I added several of the Tim Holtz metal pieces, his pieces work so well for Halloween.  The top ATC has a cut out of a moon that I printed off from the internet. All the images in the ATC's are from Google Free images, I love the vintage feel they add to these pieces.

I added some flowers to soften the look of the one above and another Halloween sentiment to it featuring some lovely black cats. I added some silver embossing powder to each of the ATC's as well, for some sparkle and shine!

For the lovely witchy lady above, I fussy cut out a broom, which was another free image I printed off, and added some flowers, cogs and a Tim Holtz skull and crossbones to the top.  I love this image of this pretty lady and her familiar cat sitting on top of her shoulder!

My final ATC is of this cheeky little witch hiding behind her garden gate. I love the look on her face!  I added more cut out images I printed off, a Tim Holtz number plate and a flower from my stash to finish it off.

I am really happy with these, and I am going to add them to my ATC Display Tray, which I have pictured below for you. Fernli Designs has a challenge in their Facebook group featuring these ATC Trays, which you can join in here:

Witchy Work Table A Fernli Designs DT Project

Good morning Fernli Designs fans! I am so thrilled to be doing some more design team work for Fernli Designs. I love their products and this time I have made a fun and whimsical Witchy Work Table!

I have a lot of parts to this project, so lets get started!
I am using this wooden plaque from Fernli Designs as my table base. I am also using lots of scroll corners and flourishes. I will have a complete list of the items at the end of this post.
My first job was to paint everything black, as what other colour would a Witchy table be?

Once all the black paint was dry, I used some Prima clear crackle paste on top of the paint, and when that was dry, I went over it with some silver Gilder's Paste to pick up on the cracks and grooves in the wood.

I attached the corners type 5 and the curly swirl to the table to work as legs and they worked out perfectly! The table was even and stood up straight. These make perfect table legs.

Once the table was together, I set it aside for a bit, and began to work on my pieces that would go on the table. First up is the Witches hat. No Witch can be with out this! I used air dry clay to make the hat and the pumpkins for my table. It was easy to create the shapes, and I let them all dry over night to make sure they were sturdy enough to paint the next day.

I painted the hat black (of course) and added a twine braid and black flower to finish it off. I also added a bit of the silver Gilder's Paste to pick up on the cracks in the hat and make it feel a bit old and worn.

For the pumpkins, I rolled them out into balls, added some lines for the grooves in the pumpkin and rolled out a stem and made some leaves.

When the pumpkins were dry, I painted them black and then dry brushed on some orange paint for the pumpkin and green for the stems and leaves. I am pretty happy with how they came out!

I needed to make a hat stand for my Witchy hat, so I cut a small dowel down and added some of the small Fernli corners. These corners were from a mixed bag of Fernli Goodies, and can be available upon request. These worked out great for a hat stand.

I glued the hat on to the stand and then glued the stand on to the table.

Next, I decided to make a Book of Shadows for my Witch. I created this mini book much the same way you would create a mini album.  I cut up some old book paper for the pages in the book, and added some hot glue to the outside of the book for a cob web effect, adding more of the silver Gilder's paste to make it look old. Some tiny moon and stars stickers and a date finished off the outside.

I added some cheesecloth, that I sprayed orange to give a spooky effect on the top of the table, and began to add the rest of my elements to the table.
I made a "crystal" ball out of a bottle cap, silver bead cap and large pearl. I used some Stickles all over the pearl to make it appear like it was shimmering.  For the black candles, I cut up a hot glue stick and heated up one end until I could make a glue string coming off of it, it make it look like the wick of the candle.

I glued down my finished pumpkins to the table, and rolled up more of the vintage book paper to look like scrolls.

I used the Decorative Panel 1 for the back of the table to hold up the book. I added a Tim Holtz Skeleton and gave him some spooky orange gems for eyes.

I also added a Prima Relics and Artifacts small doll to the table and gave it a bit of a creepy make over with green paint, red fangs, and yellow eyes.

My finishing touch was some spider webs. This was achieved with very slim glue strings using a hot glue gun. I ran the strings all over the table. Once the strings were dry, I used some Diamond Stickles from Ranger and ran a tiny bead of that over all the strings. This gave the faux webs a sparkly effect which I love!

I had so much fun with this project! I am so thrilled with how it came out!

I hope you have found some inspiration here today and will give a project like this a try.
Fernli Designs has tons of great items and you are only limited by your imagination.

Pumpkin People Altered Clock ScraPerfect DT Project

Good morning and happy Friday! I am excited to share my next DT project for ScraPerfect.
This time I have altered a Tim Holtz clock in a Halloween theme, featuring the Pumpkin People!

I have a lot of parts to this project, so I will try to keep it as short as I possibly can. There is quiet a few separate tutorials I could do with this project, but here are some of the highlights!

I started off making some of my own pumpkins out of air dry clay. I was inspired my a friend of mine, Mary TheCraftHoarder who created her own pumpkins last year out of clay. I needed some very small ones for the inside and outside of my clock and these are pretty easy to make. Just roll a ball out of the clay, make some lines for the grooves in the pumpkins and roll out a smaller bit for the stem. I added leaves to some of mine, just taking a tiny bit more of the clay and a pin to make the lines on the leaves. I am pretty happy with the outcome!  These take at least a good day and an half to dry depending on how big you make yours.

Once the pumpkins were dry, I gave them a coat of black paint. I let that dry and once it was, I dry brushed on two different shades of orange. I set that aside to dry and then dry brushed on a couple of different colours of leafy green for the stem and leaves.

I set these aside and then began to work on the clock. My first task was to take this clock from looking silver and modern to rusted and old. I gave it a coat of black gesso first, then got out some of the Finnabar Rust Effect Paste. I gave it a coat of all 3 of the rust colours in brown, orange and yellow.

Once the paste was dry, it was time to add more texture to the clock with the Best Glue Ever and some Orange Mica Flakes. I dabbed the glue on various places all over the clock and then sprinkled on the mica flakes.

I love the look it gave to the clock!

It really looks all rusty and has loads of texture now.

For the inside of the clock I gave it a similar treatment. I painted the inside black and then using the Best Glue Ever again, I went in random places inside the clock with the glue and then sprinkled the Stampendous Gold Lux Mix, which is a mixture of mica flakes and glitter.
The result is that it looks like a dark starry sky on the inside of the clock!

I next got out some of my flowers and gave them a spray with some of my Fireworks sprays in Cantaloupe and Tangelo. Once sprayed, I set them aside to dry.

Next, I used a wooden gate from Fernli Designs. I gave it dabbling of some orange and grey paints. Then using The Best Glue Ever, placed some of the glue in spots on the fence. I let this dry until it was tacky.

Once the glue was tacky, I used some of the orange Transfer Foils on top of the fence.

You Can see below the results of the paint and foils.

I also used the Best Glue Ever to glue on some rhinestones on the metal sentiment and the wooden key.

I also used the Best Cleaner Ever and the Perfect Cleaning Cloth to clean the glass for the face of my clock. It worked so great and got all the fingerprints off the glass from me altering it.

I then began to add my pumpkins and embellishments to the inside of the clock. I put some moss down first to give the pumpkins something to rest on. I also added some flowers and butterflies as well.  On the back piece of the clock I glued down the fence and my Pumpkin people which I printed off a free image from Pinterest.

I also glued some of my little pumpkins to the top of the clock, added a few bits of moss and butterflies.

As a finishing touch I added some of my flowers I sprayed and also some Petaloo flowers in coordinating colours. I also added some seam binding, which I also sprayed and the wooden key from Fernli Designs.
