Love Artist Trading Coins White Rose Crafts DT

Good morning friends, Kim here with my next DT project for White Rose Crafts. This time I have created some Shabby Chic Artist Trading coins. 

I love making these Arist Trading Coins using the gorgeous "Love" chipboard set from the WRC shop.

I used various embossing powders from my stash, in coordinating colours, but making each coin unique.

Once the embossing was done, I used some Glossy Accents to glue the background paper, Felici 'Tea paper to the back of each of the coins.

I also used the Glossy Accents to add some micro beads, rhinestones and tiny metal embellishments to decorate the coins. 

The finishing touch was the Tim Holtz Rub Ons which added a lovely sentiment to each of the coins.

Holiday Gift Tags White Rose Crafts DT Project

This week I decided to create some whimsical gift tags for the upcoming holiday season. I cut out a star shape from some chipboard and covered it with some of the Pastel Chic paper from the White Rose Craft Store.

I covered both sides of the stars with the paper, and distressed the edges of the stars with my distress tool.

Once that was done, I got out some coordinating paints and went around the edges of the stars with the paint, so no plain chipboard would show.

Next, it was time to stamp on a sentiment. I used the Kelly Creates Quotes 1 Stamp Set for this, along with the Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide and also the Tattered Rose Distress Oxide.

Once I had stamped them on, I used some of the Vintage Pearl Embossing powder and embossed the words on the stars. The effect is quite subtle, but I like how it looks.

Now its time to play with the embellishments!  I first went around each of the stars with some wool fibers to make them look festive. After that was done, I got out some of the Recollections Flowers, I used two different sets, The Flower Garden and the Dimensional Paper Flowers in White.

I added some fun with some of the Tim Holtz paper dolls from my stash and then used some of my favorite embellishments from the store, the  Dress it up line!

I used the Dress it up snowflake buttons and mini cookie cutter set for these tags. 

Lastly, I added some Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blend pieces from the Vixen set to give the tags some glitter. I used Glossy Accents to adhere them down, which is available in the White Rose Shop.

I finished each of the star tags off with some ribbon from my stash. I left the back of the star blank, so a name for the gift can be added to it.

How To Create A Scripty Resist With Stamps & Distress Oxides White Rose Crafts DT

Good morning friends, Kim here with my next design team project for White Rose Crafts.

I have made a clean and simple card and envelope set with the Neenah A2 heavy weight card and envelope packs in the White Rose shop as my base for my card.

Next, I got out my Kelly Creates Quotes 1 stamp set and used some VersaMark clear ink and stamped my sentiments all around the card stock and then embossed them while the ink was wet with Vintage Pearl embossing powder.

I got out my Distress Oxides in Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac and went over the embossed sentiments, blending both colours together until I was happy with the result.

I decided I wanted to add a little Evergreen Bough as well, so ...I did! The Oxides are so beautiful and blend so well, using this technique with the embossing powder creates a great resist for the Oxides.

I heat set the Oxides and then buffed the embossed script with a clean cloth to make the embossed words stand out.  I wanted to activate the Oxides so I got out some spray in a pearl white from my stash, and spritzed over the top of the card. You do not have to use a spray, water works great on the oxides as well.

You can see the droplets in the photo below, it really gives the card a fun effect.

Now it was time to play with the Doodles Paper Playground Sparkle Blend mix called Vixen. I added lots of sparkle to my card with them and used some Glossy Accents  to adhere them, which is available in the White Rose Store.

I really love this Sparkle blend mix, and the fun reindeer sequins!  I also stamped "Wish" and did the same resist technique on a small band for across the front of the card. I used the Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide for the background so it would stand out a bit from the background of the card.

I also decorated the envelope by blending the same colour of Oxides lightly around the edge and stamped the Wish sentiment from the Kelly Creates Quotes 1 stamp set, and finished it off with a few more pieces from the Vixen sparkle blend.

Wonky Wood Houses A Joggles DT Project

 

Hello Joggles fans! I am so very excited to share with you my very first design team project for Joggles!  This month I was asked for my take on some of the famous Wonky Wood Houses from Joggles.

 

 

I love these wonky houses, they come in many different shapes and sizes and are open to interpretation to each artist.  Here is a list of all the things you will need to make houses like mine.

To start off your houses, I prepped them with gesso, and then when that was dry I added some fun scrapbook paper from my stash, in some colours I liked and used Mod Podge to adhere them.

 

 

Once the mod podge was dry, I got out my Branches Stencil from Joggles and some texture paste and added some pretty stencil images to my houses in a few different areas.

 

 

Next, I got out some Silks acrylic glazes in Guatemalan Green and painted the sides of the houses.  Joggles has a huge selection of Silks, they are my some of my favorite items to use on my mixed media projects!

 

Once everything was dry, I got out my Evergreen bough Distress Spray Stain and gave some random shots of spray on top of the houses. This is where the texture paste comes in handy, as the spray collects in the crevices drips down the houses for a fun and shabby look. Use your own creative eye to see where you want to add the sprays to your piece.

 

I wanted to give the image of a roof on top of the houses, so I got out some my paper clay from my stash and used some molds I have to create the pieces for the roof and the little medallion at the top.  I also painted the medallion in some silks acrylic glaze, in the same colour as the sides of the houses, and gave the longer pieces a coat of the Iridescent Blue. This gave the clay a lovely shimmer.

 

I glued the clay pieces down with hot glue and added some pretty flowers, metal embellishments and some word sentiments, which I glued down with Glossy Accents. I also used glossy accents to glue down some Glass Glitter to some areas of the houses to give them some sparkle. Where you place your embellishments is again up to you, see what looks good and what doesn't, its good to play around with things before you commit and glue them down.

 

You can see above the finished pieces. You can decorate your wonky wood houses anyway you like. That is the beauty of these, they can transform into anything. I plan on making more of these little houses in the near future. I hope you will make some and share your wonky wood houses with me!

Butterfly Queen Dressform A Crafters' Palette & Shabby is Chic Boutique DT Project

Good morning friends! I am super excited to share with you my project today. I have created a "Butterfly Queen" dress form. This Project features items from The Crafters' Palette Store. and from Shabby is Chic Boutique

 

 

This month for the Crafters Palette we were challenged to make a mono chromatic project, and I love black and white so this was a labor of love for me. It was a good time to get out my items from Shabby Is Chic Boutique to use as well.

 

 I had so much fun with this project, I am thrilled with how it turned out. In the photo below on the left you can see how the dress form from SCB started out, it was plain white, and I used one of the gorgeous napkins, also from SCB I had , and used some Multi Matte Medium it on top of it to glue it down.

 

 After the mod podge had dried, I got out a couple of different types of tulle, a plain white one and one from Crafters' Palette and one from my stash with some pretty white daisies on it. I used my needle and thread and did a running stitch to gather the layers of tulle around the dress form. I also added the flatback hearts to random flower centers as well, which were from SCB. I then used some of the gorgeous Black Venise Trim from SCB for contrast, and lastly, I added a lovely Seam Binding bow to finish it off.

 

 

For the wings I used a wooden butterfly I had given to me in a RAK from a friend in Australia. I have been looking for the perfect piece to use this on, and this was it! I used black paint on the first layer then some Frantage aged bronze embossing powder on top. Finally, I gave it a coat of Gilders Wax, which gave the wings a lovely shimmery coat. The final touch is a cameo from my stash which I framed in the tiny rhinestone trim from my SCB.

 

 

For the crown, I used a metal corner from my stash and using glossy accents added some of the same rhinestone trim from SCB and framed the metal piece to create the mini crown.

 

 

I placed the crown at the top of the dress form, I love how it came out! I also added a key from the key set from Shabby Is Chic Boutique, and then added rhinestones to it as well.

 

 I just adore dress forms and this was so much fun to make!
