Mixed Media Art Journal A Gina's Designs DT Project

Hi Crafty Friends! Today I would like to share with you one of the new items coming very soon to Gina's Store. This is the new Art Journal, and I just love it!  I have always wanted to start an art journal and this was my excuse to give it a try.

The Art Journal comes with 4 dividers, and some chipboard pages for you to get started. I have covered the divider pages with some random papers from my stash, which will each get some work done on them over time. I plan on using this book quite a lot!
I really wanted it to represent me and my style, so I chose to do a lot of texture on the front and back covers and used tons of Gina's items on it.
First I layered on various chipboard pieces then I painted them over with gesso. Then used Shimmerz Sprays, Texturez and Paints on them to give them sparkle and nice color tones.

I got out some of my air dry clay and rolled out a rectangle and then used my stamp that says "create art", and made an impression in the clay for a focal point in the center of the journal. I used some black stayzon ink to make it pop out in the middle while just keeping to softer tones around the outside of it.
Below here you can see a close up of the texture, I have used some crushed up seashells I got in the nail art section on Ebay to add further texture. I just added them with a bit of glossy accents and they stuck down great.

I hope this will inspire you to keep an art journal of your own!
Thanks for stopping by today.

Hi Everyone! Today I have my take on an inspirational item. I was on Pinterest and discovered this great inspirational piece which you can find Here, and I decided to do my own take on something that inspired me. This is what I came up with! It not only shows the versatility of Gina's chipboard items, but shows how you can be inspired by something and make it your own!

I have done a 5 x 7 inch canvas for my project and used lots of fun summery colors.

I have used lots of layers on this canvas, including ripping up paper, melting crayon wax on the butterfly, lots of bright colors of sprays and some pretty flowers as well.

Here in the center I have taken the scissors from the Vintage Seamstress Set and used them as the body of the butterfly, which was another inspirational point for me. I added some gears which I painted white, then sprayed with Shimmerz orange and a Lindys blue colored spray.

I hope you have enjoyed my take on my inspiration.

Peacock Themed Shadowbox Created for Craftsupplies1 on Etsy

Hi Everyone! Here is my lasted project for Craftsupplies1. I have created this Peacock Themed Shadowbox, and I just love how it came out! This was so super fun to make!
The Shadowbox itself is from Gina's Designs, it is her house shaped shadowbox, and the paper I used is from Fab Scraps.

After I assembled the shadowbox, and put some gesso on it, I painted the edges with some Delta Soy Paint in turquoise. I then added the paper and gave it a coat of Mod Podge Gloss.

Above here you can see one of the new gorgeous Masks from Craftsupplies1, along with some flowers and an Eiffel Tower Charm from there as well.
In the above section I have used one of Gina's Filigree Frames, and in the back there is one of Craftsupplies1's new wedding appliques and 2 toned turquoise flowers along with one of my clay angel wings I made.
Of course the star of the show is this gorgeous Peacock from Craftsupplies1. She has a great new supply of different kinds of birds in her shop, definitely worth checking out!

ATC Fun!

Hi Crafty Friends!  Today I wanted to share with you my ATC's that I have created. I am really having a lot of fun making these little cards. My friend Deann, who is on the Gina's Designs & Craftsupplies1 design teams with me, really got me going on them!  She belongs to a site called ATC's 4 All, and I went over and dived right in!   I have just completed my first swap and sent them off, and here is a sampling of some I am working on now.

Encaustic (melted wax) Atc. I have used Rubbermoon Stamps Gear Background Stamp in the hot wax and also in the clay piece in the center. I really love this technique, its so much fun to melt the wax. I used my Faber Castell Crayons for Adults to create this look. I topped the clay piece off with an old watch face and then a cute coo coo clock charm from Craftsupplies1.
Mixed Media ATC. Here I have created layers of mixed media including paints, stencils, drywall tape and texture paste. The wing and other embellishments are made from air dry clay. I have used the Rubbermoon "I am my art" stamp on this one.
And...last but not least...this is another mixed media ATC. This one is so fun. I love the Rubbermoon cat border stamp in the middle of the little air dry clay frame, and the cat sentiment under it as well...its so funny to me!
I will have more to come soon! Hope you like them, feel free to comment and leave me a message!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Fab 4 Artist Trading Blocks...Ya! Ya! Ya!! A Gina's Designs DT Project

Hi Friends! I have a fun project today to share with you. This is my take on the new Artist Trading  Blocks from Gina's store. I had a lot of fun with this and even tried something new with them as well. You can see it is of the greatest band of all time (well in my humble opinion!) The Beatles.  I have stacked the three boxes and decorated them in a fun style, that I hope does them proud.  I painted the faces of the fab 4 myself, so I am pretty proud of that, I have never done anything like that before, so it was a challenge, but I am pleased with the results, hope you are too!

Here I have used a wooden piano from my stash, and painted it white to represent John's famous white piano. I used a Kaisercraft rub on with the word Imagine on it. Imagine wasn't a Beatles song, but it is my favorite song by John, so I wanted to include it.
I hand drew and painted the faces of the Beatles and used paints from my stash to color them. I took my inspiration from a famous painting of the Beatles.

Left is John, Right is Paul
Left is George, Right is Ringo

Below here you can see the top of the boxes which I used some wooden letters to spell out the fab 4. I also had some tiny gutiars which I embossed and one of the musical notes from the music symbol shape set to finish off the top.
Above and below here in these photos you can see Gina's Music Symbol shape set, the number plates and some pieces from the valentine shape set. If you are an avid Beatles fan you will pick up on some of the symbols I have used on the boxes.  For example, the number 9 which represents the track on the White Album, Revolution #9.  Below that you can see the side of the other box with the word "fly" and some black birds to of course represent one of my favorite songs, Blackbird. Also, I have stamped some drums to represent Ringo too!

Above here you can see the world help, which of course represents their famous song of the same name. I added some hearts to represent love ('cause that's all we need ;) ) and in the right hand photo I embossed the heart and used a peace sign stamp on top of it.
I hope you have enjoyed my project today, and it made you smile! Maybe dust off some of your old vinyl and give it a listen today while you are crafting!

Family Heritage Photo Frame a Gina's Designs DT Project

Hi Friends! Today I would like to share with you my Family Heritage Picture Frame. I have this photo showing four generations of my family, with my Great-Great Grandparents in the front, my Great Grandmother in the back left and my Grandmother in the back right. The baby in the photo is my mother. This was taken around 1934.  I wanted to feature this photo and Gina had such lovely pieces for me to use to make this special frame, as this is the only family photo like this that I have.
The Art Deco Borders & Corners were perfect to add to this frame to give it the heritage style that I was going for. I embossed them with some Stampendous Shabby Ivory embossing powder.  Below you can also see one of the wooden charms from Gina's Store that I have used.  I thought that the word "memories" was apropos.

Below I have used the antique bike, and keeping in the color theme embossed it with more of the shabby white embossing powder, with just a touch of some gold to make it stand out.

Finally, here is another shot of the art deco corners around the photo and on the top of the frame you can see the border. I just love how they have framed out my special photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you will check out these goodies in Gina's Store.
